Dr. Muhammad Obaidullah is a Faculty Member in the Department of Islamic Studies at the University of Rajshahi. He previously served as Associate Professor and Founder Head of the Department of Islamic Studies at Manarat International University and later as Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities at the same university. He is also the Founder of ILHAM Dhaka International School and an Educational Entrepreneur committed to innovative and value-based, and integrated education.
He completed his Honors and Master’s degrees at Islamic University, Kushtia, where he secured First Class First in the Department and Faculty First in the Faculty of Theology and Islamic Studies. In recognition of his outstanding academic achievement, he was awarded the prestigious Prime Minister Gold Medal in 2006 by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh.
He obtained his PhD from the International Islamic University Malaysia in early 2015. He also served as Additional Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell at Manarat International University. Dr. Obaidullah has been serving as an International Editorial Board Member and reviewer for several national and international journals. He formerly served as Executive Editor of Peaceland Journal and Executive Editor of Manarat International University Studies.
From 2007 to 2011, he worked at IIUM as a part-time Lecturer, trainer, chief facilitator, and researcher at the Research Management Center. He has published one original book and two translated books, while three additional original books are under publication.
He has delivered keynote speeches at various international conferences and presented 51 research papers at national and international conferences and seminars. His 31 research articles have been published or accepted in peer-reviewed journals, including ISI, Scopus and impact factor indexed journals. In addition, approximately 600 short articles have appeared in daily, weekly, and monthly newspapers in both English and Bengali.
He served as Convenor of the 1st International Conference of AUB in 2018 and as Overall Coordinator of the 2nd Convocation of Manarat International University in 2024. In 2018, he was invited by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to perform Hajj as a Royal Guest.
His research interests include Religious Coexistence, Contemporary Religious and Socio-Religious Studies, Islamic Dawah and Usuluddin, Islam and Muslims in South Asia, Islamic Education, and Islam and Women’s Studies.
