Dr. Monira Jannatul Kobra is a faculty member in the Department of Physics at the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh, where she also earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in physics. She later completed a highly intense pre-PhD level postgraduate diploma at the prestigious Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Italy, and earned her doctoral degree from Kyushu University, one of Japan's leading research universities.

As a dedicated lifelong learner, she has attended academic lectures delivered by professors from more than 40 countries. This global exposure - combined with research experiences at renowned institutions such as ICTP (Italy), Kyushu University (Japan), IIT Kharagpur (India), and the Institute of Modern Physics (IMP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (China) – has broadened her academic perspective and strengthened her research foundation. She has taken part in over a hundred international workshops, summer schools, and conferences/symposiums, many of which involved highly competitive selection processes. In several of these programs, she represented Bangladesh as the sole or one of the earliest Bangladeshi participants.

Her academic journey has been supported by several highly competitive international fellowships, including from the United Nations (UN), the Yoshida Scholarship Foundation (YKK), and The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS).

She began her research career at the Nuclear Physics Research Laboratory at Rajshahi University and subsequently continued academic as well as research activities at ICTP, Kyushu University, IIT KGP and IMP under the guidance of senior scientists. The TWAS-UNESCO Associateship and the CAS Fellowship supported her visits to IMP. She was the first Bangladeshi researcher to work at IMP-CAS, and the first female visiting researcher there in 2025. She has also expanded her collaborative research activities through engagements in Thailand and India, enriching her interdisciplinary and cross-cultural perspectives.

She has visited and engaged with leading universities and research institutes across several countries, including world-ranked institutions such as NUS and NTU (Singapore), attending international schools, symposiums, and academic meetings. She has travelled to more than twenty countries.

Dr. Kobra is the founder of the Nuclear Science Research Laboratory in her department, where she supervises both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Her ongoing work focuses on nuclear reaction modelling, nuclear data evaluation, and Monte Carlo and machine-learning-based simulations for Accelerator-Driven Systems (ADS) as well as selected astrophysical and medical physics applications.

She has organised more than twenty-five academic workshops and seminars, both online and in person, and has delivered invited talks on nuclear physics, career development, and research skills. She has independently managed many of these events from planning to implementation. In addition to her academic experience in Bangladesh, she has presented her work internationally and gained exposure to diverse scientific audiences.

Dr. Kobra remains committed to continuous learning to advance research, mentorship, and teaching, with the aim of contributing meaningfully to both national and international scientific communities.
