Research Interest
My research interests are the systematic study of fish, fisheries biology, conservation and management of river and floodplain fisheries, environmental pollution, toxicology, and risk assessment. My overarching goal is to carry out an integrated research program to develop sustainable biodiversity. My research focuses on environmental pollution, fish ecology, habitat use, biotic interaction, relationships, and behavior. I have done a few works on systematic studies of fish, fisheries biology, and environmental pollution effects on fish and invertebrates at the graduate and postgraduate levels. In Japan, during my doctoral research, I examined the toxicity and bioaccumulation of heavy metals as well as industrial sludge toxicity on ciliates. As a BK-21 postdoctoral researcher in South Korea, I worked on the toxic response behavior of C. elegans. During my professorship at King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, I also did a few works on environmental pollution and health risk assessment. Now I’m working as a professor in the Department of Zoology at the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. Here, I’m engaged as a PI or Co-I on various projects on fisheries and environmental pollution research. I’m also actively engaged in collaborative research with my students, researchers, and colleagues at home and abroad in such areas as fisheries, environmental pollution, and risk assessment.
