Professor Dr. Md. Istiaque Hossain, Department of Fisheries in the University of Rajshahi, an apex seat of higher education in the Northern region of the country, has earned remarkable achievements as a dynamic academic executive, a devoted teacher and a distinguished scientist of international repute. As an enthusiastic teacher and researcher in the field of Fisheries sciences, he made brilliant contributions to the promotion of fishery practices related to food and nutrition in Bangladesh. In parallel to it, he kept his endeavor unabated for uplifting our higher education to the world-standard with reflection in it the needs of the hour properly, and thus, to unleash the boundless potentials of youth-power by propagating the system rooted to life and livelihood. He has elected as the first Dean of Fisheries Faculty in the University of Rajshahi on 25.11.2021-17.12.2025. Professor Istiaque has been serving as elected Senator of the Rajshahi University since 2017 to till date and serving as Chairman, Trusty Board of International Institute of Applied Science and Technology (IIAST), Rangpur from 2015 to till date. He served as the Administrator of Rajshahi University press during 2013-2017. Vice-chancellor of different universities (University of Rajshahi, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science & Technology University and Jessore University of Science and Technology) nominates him as the expert member of selection board for higher committee and lower committee in Bangladesh. He successfully managed his responsibilities as House Tutor of Rokeya Hall, RU from 2010 to 2013. Professor Istiaque is a very popular teacher in the Department of Fisheries at university of Rajshahi and a good number of national and international graduate students received their Masters and PhD degrees under his supervision. He is working as a member of Planning Committee in the Department of Fisheries University of Rajshahi and served as treasurer in Fisheries Association in department of Fisheries.
