Research Engagement by Own

Achieved PhD degree in 2014 from Institute of Bangladesh Studies, University of Rajshahi, under supervision of Dr. Pradip Kumar Panday (a PhD degree holder from Sheffield University, UK). My Research title was ‘Representation of People’s War in Bangladeshi Films Based on Liberation War’ (Dissertation written in Bangla).

Research Supervision

Supervised some Masters level thesis of students of my department. Currently supervising MPhil research of a lecturer of department of Communication and Journalism of North Bengal International University, Rajshahi. The title of the research is ‘‘Uses of social media as source of news in the mainstream newspaper of Bangladesh’’.

Reviewing Research Articles

I have reviewed research articles of the Bangladesh Film and Television Institute Journal (BCTI- a government organization), Department of Theatre and Performance Studies Journal of the Jatia Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Trishal, Mymensigh, Bangladesh and Institute of Bangladesh (IBS) Journal of Rajshahi University, article of Khulna University Studies Journal. Reviewed a publishable book on film of Bangla Academy, Dhaka.

Participation in Conferences

1. Attended the Global Media Conference as a participant, held in Bonn, Germany, from 18–20 June 2017. Invited by DW Akademie, with financial support from the Foreign Ministry of Germany.

2. Attended the 1st International Conference on Social Sciences (ICSS-2025) on 14–15 May 2025, organized by the Faculty of Social Sciences, Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur. Participated as a keynote speaker on the opening day of the conference. The title of the keynote address was "Online Video Streaming Platforms: The Cinema Halls of the 21st Century – The Bangladesh Experience."

Also served as session chair in two sessions where researchers presented their papers.

Engagement in Film Making (12 Years)

§ Scriptwriter and Director in making a documentary film on our liberation war, named ‘Dabanol’, which was based on our first intellectual martyr Dr. Shamsuzzoha. This film was released in DVD format by country's famous movie publisher Laser Vision in 2013. This was the only documentary film (during it’s making) based on our glorious historical event of Mass Uprising of 1969. This film is being telecasted in our country's private TV channels in every year from 2012. This film was produced by me and Desh TV.

§ Scriptwriter and Director in making another documentary film named ‘Matiharer Milonmela’ on 9^th Convocation of Rajshahi University. This film was produced by Rajshahi University in 2015.

§ Scriptwriter and Director in making another documentary film named ‘Heritage Archives’. This film was produced by Heritage Archives, Rajshahi in 2019.

§ Scriptwriter and Joint Director in making a new documentary film named ‘Shahid Smritir Jadughar’ on Liberation War Museum of Rajshahi University. Starting in late 2023, this film is currently under process. Rajshahi University administration is producing this film.

§ Now I am making three more documentary films based on the life sketch of our great national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam (Rebel Poet).

Note: All of these films were made and published by my Pen-Name Sazzad Bokul.

1. Lyricist

Achievements:

One of my lyrics has been tuned by renowned music director Pronob Ghosh which was vocalized by popular singer Badsha Bulbul in his album 'Bather Shraban'. The song was on the aired on BTV, Channel I and ATN Bangla. My other lyrics were tuned by other renowned music directors such as Md. Ishaq, Azmir Babu, Ariful Islam Mithu. I have enlisted as lyricist of Bangladesh Television (the State-run TV Channel) in 2014. Last year Ghazal artist Ariful Islam Mithu sung one of my new songs (Ajo Vulini Tomai) and it was released in YouTube Channel of Dhrubo Music Station.

2. Rhyme Writer

Achievements:

Numerous rhymes were published in almost all national dailies such as Prothom Alo, Bhorer Kagoj, Sangbad, Ajker Kagoj etc. My first book of Rhyme Collection named 'Ek Hari Chora' has been published by Koli Prokashoni.

3. Story Writer

Achievements:

I have written story also. One of my science fiction stories (named 'One Day of Year 3010) has been published in our country's most popular monthly magazine 'Rahosso Potrika' in April 2012 issue.
